Joel is a Film and Television Picture Editor based in Toronto, Canada.

At 8 years old, Joel accidentally fell into the world of editing by trying to create highlight mixtapes of then Toronto Raptor rookie-sensation, Vince Carter. The mixtapes were awful, but a love for all things tech, film & video, and their confluence in editing was ignited.

After completing a B.F.A in Film Production at York University, Joel began his career as a logger on Cold Water Cowboys, a large factual production for Discovery, and quickly moved into an assistant editor role on the show. Over the next half decade, he moved through a number of productions in that role, including subsequent seasons of Cowboys, Hello Goodbye (Forte Entertainment), Real Vikings (Take5 Productions), and Leaf’s Nation Out Loud (Alibi Entertainment).

Joel transitioned to the scripted world as an assistant editor on the horror anthology series Slasher: Guilty Party (Shaftesbury Films). He was fortunate to be given the opportunity to cut, and relished both the collaboration and power of carving a story beat by beat in the edit. Joel was invited back to the editor chair on the following seasons, Slasher: Solstice, and Slasher: Flesh & Blood for director Adam MacDonald (Pyewacket, Backcountry).

For a co-production series between Ireland and Canada, Joel cut two episodes on the murder mystery period-drama Dead Still, for director Craig David Wallace (Todd & The Book of Pure Evil, Murdoch Mysteries). Joel was lucky to work again with Wallace on his taut thriller feature Motherly.

Leaping across genres, Joel was thrilled to edit on the family-oriented sci-fi anthology series Circuit Breakers for Apple TV+, working with producer, writer and director Matt Hastings (The Handmaid’s Tale, Shadowhunters).

Joel recently re-teamed with Hastings to edit on Fallen, a grounded fantasy based on the New York Times bestselling YA book series.
